This question is how most of the conversations at my kitchen island start. Someone comes in, sits down, sighs or smiles like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, and I immediately know something is up. Someone needs to talk, or maybe someone needs to listen.
A lot of things have happened at that island. Wisdom has been dispatched. Tears have flowed freely. Voices have been raised. Apologies have been exchanged. Questions, hard questions, have been asked. Answers have been given. Lies have been expelled and revelation has come. Laughter has rung out. Joy has abounded. And sometimes food even gets prepared and served.
No topic is off limits here in my kitchen. The kitchen island is the heart of my home because it is the place where many have made a home in my heart.

Ah, this made me cry! I feel like I became the woman I am now at that counter. I heard about Jason the first time sitting there talking with you until 2am and immediately felt connected to him. Many fun silly conversations happened at that counter. Friendships were mended. Marriage advice given. Tear puddles were wiped off of that counter many times. Healing was brought and laughter flows freely.
ReplyDeleteBut in reality, it's never been the counter that was magic... it's always been you. You have opened your home and opened your heart to all who were willing to come in and have a seat. Many lives have been touched, hearts mended, and minds challenged. Because you were willing to live your life's ministry everyday, we have all grown up to be loving people that are full of hope in the world and trust in God for all we need.
